From July 18, 2011:

Greeting fellow musketeers, retired musketeers, friends of musketeers, servants of musketeers, and (where applicable) Spaniards,

As one of the smartest men in France, I, Alexis Vigaroux, Duke of Averoigne, am frequently asked for advice on how to conduct oneself in these trying times. In anticipation of certain questions, I offer the following.

1. Whether showing off at Court or on the field of honor, quality habiliment is a must. If you wish, I can recommend a good tailor.

2. Befriend as many wine merchants as possible.

3. Always have a spare pub ready in case your current drinking establishment should meet with sudden misadventure.

4. Be ever vigilant. Black-clad strangers, cardinal's guards, and other undesirables lurk the streets.

5. Beware also of large dogs and flying women.

Yours,

A.V.
